Lakshmi Mittal The UK’s Richest Person
Lakshmi Mittal is the richest person in the UK.
He owns Mittal Steel, the biggest steel maker in the world. With an estimated fortune of £19,250 million he can afford to live a very luxurious lifestyle. He is based in London and reportedly paid a whopping £70m for a house in Kensington Palace Gardens, which used to be owned by formula one guru Bernie Ecclestone.
He also treated his daughter to a monumental £30m wedding. Now that would buy a lot of champagne!
At just 56 years old he also has a lot of time left to enjoy the fruits of his labour. He has been the richest person in the UK for 3 years running. His fortune comes from steel and he recently purchased the world’s second biggest steel company making his own company the biggest in the world. They produce a huge 115m tons of steel every year. Lakshmi learned all about the steel business in Calcutta before moving to the UK to go to university where he studied business and accounting and actually came top of his class.
We wish him well and it will take something special to see him knocked off the perch of the UK’s richest person next year!. (Also any donations will be greatly accepted!)
