Duncan Bannatyne In Dragons Den
Duncan Bannatyne has come a long way from being 30 years old, no money and not much going on in his life. Now in his late 40’s he is a multi-millionaire with a personal fortune far exceeding £100 million.
His first business venture came about when he purchased an ice cream van and started a local round. Soon he built it up to 6 vans and was earning over £70,000 a year, just two years later.
Next, he saw a huge opportunity in nursing homes and sold every possession he had including his home, car and still needed to borrow a large amount of money to stump up the £180,000 needed to build the home. The success continued and he soon had 30 nursing homes to his name. He sold the company in 1997 for £46 million giving him a personal £26 million lump sum! He then created the Bannatyne Leisure chain of gymnasiums, which turns over millions each year.
Most recently he is famous for being one of the dragons on the popular TV show Dragons Den. Would-be entrepreneurs show the panel of multi-millionaire judges their ideas for a business and the judges decide whether they will invest their own personal money into the venture. There are certainly some weird and wacky products on that show!
Duncan is a great example of working hard to achieve your goals and is admired by many people.
