Sir Alan Sugar, star of The Apprentice was born Alan Michael Sugar on 24th March 1947.
Leaving school at 16 years old, he quickly went about buying and selling products, including intercoms, cigarette lighters and even TV aerials. He founded the electronics group Amstrad in 1968.
